Arrive in Sri Lanka and be transported to Kalpitiya. On the first day of your journey, relax in your hotel room. On day two, head out in the early morning to take an excursion out to sea. Come across pods of dolphins as they travel through the ocean. Once you’re done viewing this memorable spectacle, head to the beach to relax and enjoy the sun and waves.
On day three, head to the Wilpattu National Park. One of the most identifiable features of this park is the ‘Willus’ that have formed around the park. These are depressions in the land which, when filled with rainwater, become watering holes. There are currently over 60 documented ‘Willus’. Come across the various animals that thrive off this natural phenomenon as you travel through.
Head to Habarana where you will see the exciting Sigiriya Rock Fortress. It is unofficially titled the Eighth Wonder of the World. This fortress spans hundreds of meters tall and is a wonder to climb. Once you’re on the move you will come across the delicate frescoes which adorn the wall. Once on top, be amazed at the wonderful views. On day five, head to the Minneriya National Park to go on a jeep safari. A large number of Asian Elephant herds reside in this park, making it an interesting location to visit. Afterwards, take a tour of the village before retiring to bed.
On your way to Ramboda, visit some of Kandy’s most famous locations. Take in Kandy’s stunning colonial architecture while taking a local tour. The renowned ‘Udarata’ culture of the city is invigorating to see. If you want to go swimming, stop by the famous Ramboda waterfalls.
Take the most breathtaking train ride to Ella through Nanu Oya. You will be enchanted by views of small towns which reside on the sides of mountains and waterfalls glistening as you travel. Take pictures to remember this scenic journey.
Climb Little Adam’s Peak as soon as the sun rises. As numerous religions around the world hold this place in high regard, it is a famous location that is visited by people of various faiths. Then proceed to the Nine Arches Bridge, one of the island’s most picturesque spots. After Ella, continue on to Arugam Bay. Enjoy the serene surroundings and beach vibes of Arugam Bay for the next two days. Benefit from this surfing environment and enjoy yourself while you’re in the water.
Head to Yala National Park, a large nature reserve that is home to a massive number of leopards. It is considered the best park to visit in Sri Lanka for leopard sightings. Watch as these predators hunt and enjoy their interesting lives.
Day twelve is reserved for Udawalawe National Park. In this park resides a large number of Asian Elephants. Travel through the park as you enjoy the views of birds and animals living in co-existence. It will be a thrilling experience.
Spend the next two days relaxing on Unawatuna, where tranquil beaches await your arrival. The Galle Dutch Fort is a worthwhile morning excursion and is regarded as Asia’s best-preserved colonial sea fortress. One of the historical sites within the fort is believed to be the island’s oldest breadfruit tree. Take it easy on the beach for the rest of the day. The next morning, go whale watching in Mirissa to witness some amazing whale species as they migrate to warmer waters. To get a sense of the local way of life, end the day with a bike ride through the village.
Head to the airport to depart Sri Lanka after a thrilling and adventurous trip.
